LIVING WHILE DYING may serve as a tribal hearth in this way, as it both models ways of conducting “difficult” conversations around death, and shows how individuals, through their behavior and words, can bring presence and integrity to the sacred final phase of life.

Director Cathy Zheutlin approached me to create with a few pieces of motion graphics to support her narration in her film. I used this opportunity to partner up with a talented local Fine Artist Allison Parker and create emotive and thoughtful artworks that evoke what Cathy was feeling throughout the film. 

It is really rewarding to be able to use and harness feelings in art creation and it was a humbling and revealing experience working with this subject matter.

LIVING WHILE DYING

The powerful live broadcast company Liveit teamed up with The Robert Batemen Gallery to create an exciting VR experience. Partnering up with Liveit, I was required to create the entire 360 experience that would be experienced using Playstion VR hardware inside the gallery.

Liveit founder and CEO Mike Irvine and I took a very special trip to Chatham Island to film some of the landscape Robert pulled inspiration from. We also were treated with a visit to Robert's home where we had a private tour of his art-filled residence. 

This was my first VR project and even though there were many stress-filled late nights, hair pulled out from things going wrong and getting nowhere many times, it was also very rewarding and I learned to really appreciate this new art form. It really challenges you to think outside of the box of traditional storytelling techniques.

One of the risks I took was meddling with an artist's art in order to make it 'more' interactive. I took one of Robert's famous Paintings 'The Wave' and animated it. I made sure to do it delicately as to not disrespect the work. Luckily enough, Robert was delighted with the result and I was allowed to work on 4 artworks in the same manner for this project. 

It was an honor to work on this project and with Canadian living legend, Robert Bateman.

ROBERT BATEMAN 360

A 19th-century Armenian writer living in Japan becomes the de facto ambassador of a lost nation. Mini goes on a journey in sharing her Grandmother's incredible story and fascinating Armenian history to match. It was a wonderful experience remaking these maps to help Mimi bring this story to life. it was an honor. 

Many hours were spend trying to match the available old diagrams and maps together in photoshop to help bring my version to life.
